July 2026

It was probably the the hottest CSD we’ve ever celebrated in Munich: On 27 June, under the slogan „Our Diversity. Our Strength“, some 200 groups marched through Munich. Despite extreme temperatures of 37.5 degrees, around 30,000 people took part in the political parade, according to Bayerischer Rundfunk, whilst some 200,000 onlookers lined the streets. Team Munich was also represented at the CSD once again – with its own float and an information stand on the Pride Mile (see below). It was a resounding success!

News from Team Munich

At this year's CSD in Munich Team Munich had an information stand right in the heart of Pride Mile on Friday and Saturday. With a lot of passion, even more dedication and some creative ways to keep cool, we braved the incredible heat and, together with the Isarhechte, showcased our club and our sections. Thank you to everyone who helped with loading, transport, setting up the stand, manning it, and then taking it down, transporting it back and moving it into the cellar. Without this invaluable support, events like this simply couldn’t happen. Team Munich once again lived up to its name: it’s only as a team that we’re strong together. Thank you!

A huge thank you also goes to our sponsors, who provided the drinks for the CSD float:

Laurin Restaurant & Bar, Heiliggeiststr. 6 at the Viktualienmarkt and

Edeka Matuschek, Holzstr. 25

With plenty of fun and enthusiasm, our brilliant bar team once again welcomed well over 200 guests to our club bar at the Magic Bar Tour hosted at LeTRA on 3 June. As well as making lots of new contacts and having some great conversations, we were able to raise just over 170 euros for the Munich Rainbow Foundation. We would like to thank all our supporters and donors from the bottom of our hearts.

On 20 June, Team Munich had an information stand at the Lesbian Street Festival represented. Our highlight – a small table tennis table – attracted loads of enthusiastic visitors. We easily struck up conversations during exciting mini-matches. A big thank you goes to all the volunteers for their fantastic efforts!

From the divisions

Handball: Despite the hot weather, the handball players are in the thick of their preparations for the Euro Handball Pride Championship in Amsterdam. At the end of July, we’ll be travelling to the Dutch capital, where we’ll be competing against other teams from Europe on 29 and 30 July. Afterwards, on 1 August, we’ll be celebrating there at the famous Canal Parade on Amsterdam’s canals. We’re really looking forward to it – until then, it’s time to train hard!

But we didn’t just have fun on the pitch; we also had fun, of course, on the CSD in Munich. Just as with handball, the hot weather didn’t stop us from having a lovely time together. We also got together in June for the Team Munich summer party at the Feierwerk and for a team dinner at the Augustiner-Wirtshaus in Sendling.

Rugby: On 13 June, the Munich Monks played their final match of the season in Fürstenfeldbruck. The season concluded across various teams with a an excellent 3rd place has come to an end. A total of 17 teams took part in the Bavarian Verbandsliga. A huge success for the Monks, which was celebrated in style!

The team also travelled to Vienna in June for the 5th anniversary of the Vienna Eagles, with whom they have enjoyed a long-standing friendship between the clubs. There, in absolutely perfect rugby weather, a Friendly match took place, followed by everyone winding down the evening together.

We’re now heading into the off-season. But that doesn’t mean training will stop: the Munich Monks are looking forward to their event on 11 July, Beginners’ training (from 11.45 am at the Anton-Fingerle-Zentrum) we look forward to seeing lots of new faces. It doesn’t matter at all whether you’ve played before or are completely new to rugby. During a training session specially designed for beginners, you can try out various aspects of rugby and then ask any questions you may have about the club and the sport. We look forward to seeing every new face!

Football FLINTA*: The FLINTA* footballers are celebrating the Promotion! On 30 May, we played against SV WB Allianz Munich. Observers had given both teams an equal chance of victory in the run-up to the match. Our player Luisa Eckereder scored the first goal in the 20th minute. SV WB Allianz München didn’t score until late on, when the opponent demonstrated her finishing skills in the 88th minute in front of 60 spectators. Luisa was named Player of the Match after her goal in the 89th minute secured victory for Team Munich.

Following their 2–1 away win, the FLINTA*s finished the season just outside the top four in the Women’s A-Class 01, yet still secured promotion. Throughout the season, they proved themselves to be extremely goal-hungry with 50 goals scored, with Luisa ranking second on the goalscorers’ list with 16 goals. At the end of the season, our FLINTA*s have recorded ten wins, four draws and two defeats.

The team can be very proud of their performance. After all, it was their first season in the full-size league, which also means that the team had to gel first. The player-coach duo, Luisa and Anh, are delighted that their vision and dedication have attracted such a large following and that they have been rewarded with promotion.
